Love, CBD & Robots
The Colorado-based greenbox Robotics pilot program kicked off with the rollout of the first CBD-dispensing robot at a 7-Eleven location in Boulder.
Kenny Monfort, director of development at the Monfort Companies, the firm that owns and operates the Boulder 7-Eleven store in question, said, “Monfort is always on the look out for innovative technology that will optimize our portfolio of businesses,” adding that the greenbox robot will “add value, intrigue and delight” the customers of the company’s convenience stores.
In addition, Monfort explained, having high-priced items inside the machine will reduce shrinkage – or theft, to put it in plain English.
Interestingly, it’s not 7-Eleven or Monfort that will be selecting the CBD products being sold. Instead, greenbox is being trusted to curate the CBD collection offered to 7-Eleven customers in Colorado.
7-Eleven now joins the list of big US retailers offering CBD products, alongside CVS, Walgreens, Urban Outfitters, and a few others listed in this Forbes article. However, 7-Eleven is the first to offer an automated service and curated selection. Even more interestingly, greenbox will seek to feature select small, up-and-coming CBD brands that might otherwise not be able to hit the shelves at retailers of such size.
